A message from the
change summer team
Dear Change Summer Community:
The Declaration of Independence states that all human beings “are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Absurdly, our country continues to deny these rights to our Black and Brown communities. At Change Summer, we are deeply distraught, frustrated, and saddened by the recent senseless deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and all other instances of racial violence and police brutality. In his “Letter from Birmingham Jail,” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, wrote, “We must come to see with the distinguished jurist of yesterday that ‘justice too long delayed is justice denied.’”
We will continue to listen, learn, and act until justice for all is a reality.
